Troubleshooting the Q-Voicesaver

Static
Always check to see that your power connection is secure in the back of the unit and at the receptacle. Loose power connection will cause static. If you are using a dual prong jack, be sure to keep it clean. Cloth or cotton and alcohol or even a pencil eraser, will help to remove the natural buildup of tarnish from causing breaks in the metallic contact, which causes static.

Loss of Volume
Be sure to check that the MIC type setting in the back of the unit hasn't been accidentally changed.

Distorted Recording
Be sure to keep the handset/headset in the same position you would normally use when speaking. Holding it close to your mouth will distort recording. Depending on the sensitivity of your handset/headset, you may pick up room noise during your recording. However, this is the same room noise anyone hears when you are talking to them.

Message Gets Cut Off
At any time, if you press the activator button before a message has been completed, it will be cut off. This is actually a feature of the Q-Voicesaver. You are always online and able to speak to the caller, even when the message is being played. If you wish to stop the recording before it is completed, just push the activator button and the recorded message will stop.

Changing Headset
Remember the MIC type setting in the back of the unit may need to be changed each time you switch between a handset or headset. This will also, in most cases, require that you change the gain setting, also found in the back.

Universal Headset Adapter
Most headset manufacturers now offer a universal adapter designed to go between the telephone set or console and the headset. Consult your manufacturer for the correct setting. Example: Plantronics M10 Universal Adapter. The M10 has a variety of settings based on the type of phone system you have. When installing a Q-Voicesaver, if the M10 is set at 1, the Q-Voicesaver MIC type needs to be set at "C." If the M10 is set at 5, the Q-Voicesaver needs to be set at "E2." This same holds true for the ROLMPHONE series; it must be equipped with the ROLMPHONE headset adapter, and the Q-Voicesaver MIC type set to "C." 'A TEKNEKRON ACD System will require the use of a special adapter that PM&M provides you with. The NEC PBX with HDAC ACD sets require a modified Q-Voicesaver. Consult factory prior to purchase (applied to HDAC sets only).
